Our Story

Born from the Ashes of War, Built for women advancement and Lasting Peace

Women of Liberia Peace Network was founded by women who lived through Liberia's civil wars and refused to let their daughters inherit the same suffering.

Our Story

Why We Exist

Liberia endured two devastating civil wars between 1989 and 2003. Women bore the heaviest burden as survivors of violence, as caregivers for shattered families, and as the invisible architects of community survival. Yet when peace came, women were largely excluded from the formal processes that would shape Liberia's future.

Women of Liberia Peace Network was established to change that. We believe that sustainable peace is impossible without gender equality, an end to violence against women and girls; that when women are empowered to lead and build, entire communities transform. Our work is rooted in Liberia, but our vision is global: a world where every woman's rights are protected, her voice is heard, and her potential is fully realized.
